Position Summary:The College of Business & Public Policy's Dean's Office at the University of Anchorage provides a wide range of services to its students, faculty and to the Anchorage and Alaska business communities. This position also supports the Dean's Office Staff.

Duties:

Act as a liaison with Recycling and perform shredding (when needed).Essential

Administer room scheduling for RH 303 & 309 and public spaces in Rasmuson Hall, reserving appropriate rooms with consideration of event/meeting purposes and applicable limits on occupancy.Essential

Assist Building Manager in keeping a clean building and providing guidance with safety procedures within Rasmuson Hall.Essential

Assist Fiscal Manager with the processing of adjunct job forms, appointment letters, hiring paperwork, spreadsheets and assist Admin. Manager with mailing and collection of faculty contract letters and review files.Essential

Dean''s office front desk support: Maintain a professional environment and provide excellent customer service while serving as first point of contact, both on telephone and in person. Assist current/prospective students, faculty, staff and the public by: answering general questions and specific questions or referring to appropriate. Answer multi-line phone, transfer calls, transcribe voice mails messages, return calls, distribute messages and create recordings internal/external voice mail greetings, offices/individuals.Essential

Initiate log of incoming student dispute cases and forward to Associate Dean.Essential

Keep front desk area/suite organized and clean, clean refrigerator once a month, wipe down microwave weekly, pick up 2nd & 3rd floor kitchens weekly, make sure applicable RH bulletin boards are cleared monthly, tidy up lobby area and tables near SAC and throughout the spine, organize RH 303 closet every few months, empty shredder.Essential

Maintain and update telephone directory revisions for the college log and update staff leave calendar.Essential

Must review and comply with FERPA and UAA''s confidentiality policies.Essential

Process and track WO (Facilities & Custodial Services) requests.Essential

Project support to: Dean, Associate Dean, Fiscal Manager and Sr. Academic Manager.Essential

Provide back up to AA for opening and distributing mail for Dean''s office.Essential

Provide intercampus deliveries (when needed).Essential

POSITION: CBPP Dean's Office Student Assistant C

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Candidate must have customer service skills with the ability to multitask and complete projects by their given deadline. Professional telephone skills; the ability to follow instructions; work independently; the ability to maintain confidentiality; and deliver good verbal and written communication skills which include good grammar and spelling. The ability to organize and prioritize fluctuating workloads; have experience in general office procedures, practices and equipment; work independently to follow up and respond to changing priorities is essential with computer-based word processing, spreadsheet applications, and electronic mail software; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

To be eligible for student employment an applicant must:

A. Be enrolled in the UAA system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment or

B. Have been enrolled in the presiding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters and

C. Have at least a 2.5 (GPA) or approval from the MAU senior student services officer or his/her designee.

D. Students enrolled in non-traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the senior student service officer.

E. An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.

TYPICAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Requires Alaska Driver's License.

SALARY: $10.50/hour
