Summary

The VicePresident HSSE reports to the President, Commercial Group and is accountable forthe integrity and oversight of HSSE culture, programs and processes for theCommercial Group companies and Corporate.This position plays a vital role in supporting NANA’s strategic effortsby building an outstanding HSSE culture.The position is accountable for establishing the vision, strategicplans, programs and policies to ensure that HSSE is fully embedded in thebusinesses – with leaders and with staff.This accountability will require partnership with business leadership,HSSE professionals, clients, regulators and agencies.

EssentialDuties and Responsibilities

Lead throughactive and visible engagement, holding leaders and staff accountable fordelivering HSSE vision, programs, processes and behaviors to underpin NANA’sintent to be world class.

Accountablefor the primary leadership relationship with clients, vendors, regulatory andgovernment agency personnel in the matter of HSSE.

Create andexecute NANA’s HSSE strategy along with policy evaluation/development andimplementation.

Buildpartnerships and effectively direct leaders and staff in a matrix-reportingrelationship amongst the Commercial Group businesses and Corporate.

Ensuresessential program development for monitoring and reporting in both quantitativeand qualitative terms. Establish safetygoals and metrics in support of NANA’s strategic initiatives and organizationalcapabilities. Establish a reliable riskmanagement approach that includes continuous improvement.

Accountablefor creating a cross-business crisis management program and team that isscalable and addresses corporate and business needs for businesscontinuity.

Establish astandard program for auditing and reporting on operational practices thatbuilds upon learning and enhances organization competency and capability.

Ensurescompliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations.

Partner withthe Commercial Group businesses and Corporate in developing and implementingtraining programs to educate and build competency on workplace safety,environmental, crisis response and accident prevention requirements andprocedures.

Develop HSEcontract management system and support RFP/contracting process in thebusinesses and Corporate to ensure standards are achieved.

Review andoversight of incident investigations, establishing root causes and providingrobust recommendations to prevent future reoccurrence. Lead and manage key near misses,hazard/accident investigations and reporting.

Qualifications

MinimumRequirements

Bachelor’sdegree in engineering, operations management and/or HSE disciplines.

15 years ofoperations and/or HSE experience involving several disciplines (e.g.construction, mining, oil & gas, engineering, etc.)

8 years ofleadership experience and accountability for developing, implementing andmaintaining a certifiable HSSE Management System.

Excellentleadership engagement, organization and communication skills and behaviors.

Ability toinfluence, persuade and hold parties accountable for meeting requirements andattaining or exceeding goals.

Ability tobuild relationships both internally and externally through partnering andstrong collaboration.

Experiencein leading and/or participating on crisis response using unified commandsystems and procedures.

ProficientMicrosoft Office Skills is Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

A validdriver’s license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) yearsto be eligible under NANA’s vehicle insurance policy

WorkingConditions and Physical Requirements

* Weather: * This position requires a majority of the work to be performed inside inan environmentally controlled office, occasionally requiring work to beperformed outside where the employee may be exposed to harsh weatherconditions.

* Noise level: * The noiselevel in the work environment is usually moderate to quiet, may be exposed to aloud work environment when traveling to worksites.

* Description of environment: * A majorityof the work will be in a standard office environment with standard officeequipment. Incumbent must also be able to visit the Red Dog Mine, locations onthe North Slope as well as various other sites both locally in the state ofAlaska as well as Nationally.May berequired to work in less than ideal offices, facilities, or situations whentraveling.

* Physical requirements: * Employee isrequired to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand,walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch orcrawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

* Travel: * Up to 20% of the time. Employeemay travel throughout Alaska and/or to remote locations and may be required touse alternative modes of transportation, including but not limited to snowmachines, boats, small airplanes and ATVs.Travel to and from the worksite will be provided and arranged by NANA.
